Book description (eng):
Programme guide for the Kisfaludy Theatre of Győr, 1981.
This publication is an archived version of the 1981 programme guide for the Kisfaludy Theatre of Győr ( since 1992, the National Theatre of Győr). The pages have been digitised with minimal retouches in order to represent the original aesthetics of the guide, which was printed with only one colour on coated paper with spiral binding. This booklet is published specifically for the 40th anniversary of the Ballet Company of Győr, which debuted on the 2 November 1979. It is documenting the work of a company of artists who were, in my opinion, ahead of their time in 1980s Hungary. I became familiar with the original programme when I found a copy on my parent's bookshelf; its surrealistic images totally fascinated me as a child. The dark, yet shiny pages, the dramatic compositions, the haunting movements, gestures, facial expressions, and even the sublime titles chosen for the shows create a suggestive atmosphere up to this day. The expressive, high-contrast photographs by Julia Törőcsik and Imre Benkő reflect the zeitgeist of conceptual photography and performance documentation of the 1970s. As I see it, this publication speaks of a specific time when cultural activities were part of everyday life in Hungary, when the modernist building of the Theatre was decorated with ceramic tiles by Victor Vasarely and porcelain pictures by Endre Szász. A time when costume and set designer Judit Gombár and internationally acclaimed ballet dancer Iván Markó created a concentrated field of energy in a Hungarian town of only 125 thousand inhabitants. This energy pushed their aristic visions into another space, another dimension, out into the cosmos. This is a perfect example of a "hungarofuturistic" moment, achieving a harmony between modernity, tradition, spiritualism, and humanism. The interstellar eruption of the Central-European soul, which seethes down below.

Book description (hu):
A Kisfaludy Színház 1981-ben megjelent műsorfüzete.
Ez a kiadvány a győri Kisfaludy Színház (1992 ota Győri Nemzeti Színház) 1981-ben megjelent műsorfüzetenek egy archivált formája. A digitalizálást követően, a minimális utómunkát kapott oldalak az eredeti füzet esztétikájához hasonlóan lettek elkészítve, egy színnel, műnyomópapíron, spirálkötéssel. A publikáció apropója az 1979. november 2-án debütált Győri Balett társulatának 40. évfordulója, megemlékezés arra a táncművészeti társulatra, ami véleméneyem szerint megelőzte korát a 80-as évek Magyarországán. Az eredeti műsorfüzet szüleim könyvespolcáról lett ismeretes, szürrealis kepei már gyerekoromban teljességgel elvarázsoltak. A sötétre nyomott, fénylő oldalak, a drámai beállítások, a kísérteties mozdulatok, gesztusok, mimikák, és a darabok fenséges címválasztása szuggesztív élményt nyújtanak a mai napig is. Törőcsik Julia és Benkő Imre expresszív, erősen kontrasztos fotói a 70-es évek performance dokumentációinak és a koncept fotográfiának az esztétikai vonásait tükrözik. A kiadvány számomra egy olyan korszakról árulkodik, amikor Magyarországon a kultúrafogyasztás a mindennapok szerves része volt, amikor egy modernista színházépületet Victor Vasarely kerámia és Szász Endre porcelánképei díszítettek. Amikor a világjárt Markó Iván baletttáncos és Gombár Judit jelmez-, díszlettervező olyan energiakőzpontot koncentráltak egy 124 ezer fős magyar városban, ami a művészeti elképzelésüket egy másik dimenzióba, egyenesen a kozmoszba lőtte ki. Ez maga a színtiszta "hungarofuturista" momentum, a modernitás, tradíció, spiritualizmus és humanizmus harmóniája, a mélységben forrongó közép-európai lélek bolygóközi kitörése.
